Back in LA - an annual "pélerinage" now!
Several events - "California Copyright Conference" which I addressed, ASCAP's annual music gathering ("I create Music EXPO"), SOCAN's greeting of its members in the region (at the Canadian CG's official residence; nice to renew with current incumbent, David Fransen, ...and visiting former incumbent and colleague Colin Robertson!)
But also the launching reception of the annual French film festival (COL-COA - "City of Lights - City of Angels") organized between France and the Directors Guild of America - at the invitation of a SACEM colleague (presented "L'arnacoeur", Heartbraker, - a funny, light, comedy...I would not have gone to see on my own steam...) And if there were to be a "québécois" volet to this?... Should raise idea with Canadian CG...
Events somewhat "perturbés" by the volcano eruption in Iceland, and dense ash cloud that covered much of northern Europe, and disrupted air traffic to and from that region...Many people coming from Europe could not make it, or came late...
The first TCM film festival also held during the week - Went to see "A bout de souffle", followed by a live interview with (a much handicapped) Jean-Paul Belmondo...
Stayed again at the Renaissance Hollywood, ASCAP selected hotel. Not much time to do anything else, between conferences and dinners...
